When your cannabis clones arrive, they’ve just gone through a stressful journey. Temperature changes, dehydration, and handling can all take a toll. The first 24–48 hours after arrival are critical for ensuring your clones adapt well to their new environment.

Step 1: Unboxing & Initial Inspection

  • Open the package immediately upon arrival.

  • Check for any visible damage: wilting, yellowing, broken stems, or droopy leaves.

  • If your clones were shipped in a sealed transporter (Potted will always ship your clones in a sealed transporter and a light), open it gradually over 15–30 minutes to avoid shock from sudden humidity/temperature changes.

  • If clones appear dry, mist gently with clean, pH-balanced water and water the Jiffy/root base.

Step 2: Root Check & Transplanting

  • If your clone is rooted (If its from Potted it will be) (in plugs, Rockwool, or soil):

    • Transplant immediately into your preferred growing medium.

    • Water lightly using pH-balanced water (5.8–6.2 for hydroponics; 6.0–6.5 for soil).

    • Optional: Use a mild rooting stimulant or mycorrhizae to support root establishment.

Step 3: Environmental Setup

  • Humidity: Maintain at 70–80% for the first 48 hours. Then gradually reduce to 50–60%.

  • Temperature: Ideal range is 22–26°C. Avoid any sudden drops or drafts.

  • Lighting:

    • Use soft, indirect light for the first 24–48 hours.

    • If using grow lights, keep them at a safe distance to reduce light stress.

    • Use an 18/6 light cycle (18 hours on, 6 off). This also helps outdoor growers keep their plants in the vegetative stage before flowering.

Step 4: First Watering & Nutrients

  • Use only pH-balanced water at first. Avoid overwatering.

  • Add a mild root stimulant or kelp extract if needed.

  • Avoid high-nitrogen nutrients for the first 5–7 days until the roots are well-established.

Step 5: Monitor & Support Recovery

  • Check clones daily for wilting, yellowing, or slow growth.

  • Within 3–7 days, you should notice perky leaves, stronger stems, and signs of new growth.

Final Thoughts

Once your clone has adapted and is showing signs of healthy growth, you can treat it like a regular young plant. From there, continue your feeding and environmental schedule as normal.
